We welcome all Veteran and First Responders to join us out at the barn.
Healing Reins is honored to offer our community’s veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and their families a transformative, healing, and enjoyable experience with horses, through horsemanship, equine assisted learning, and counseling.
Horses provide a powerful partnership in learning and personal growth. Working with horses provides opportunities to explore the possibilities of a new sense of purpose, rediscovering of inner strength, and the building of relationships. Equine assisted mental health supports healing of scars, PTSD and re-integration into society and family while providing a fun outlet for individuals and families.
Equine-assisted activities at Healing Reins will be co-facilitated by a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Bryan Mitchell, who’s experiences as an Army combat veteran provide a valuable perspective to veteran groups. Through these service offerings veterans and first responders can gain tools for healthy living, discover a new place of enjoyment, and build horsemanship skills with out wonderful herd.
What to Expect:
- A better understanding of why we offer ground work and why we offer riding
- Basic knowledge of building a working relationship with a horse
- What therapeutic benefit outcomes to expect
